Madrid – April 1
We went to the train station in the morning to try and book a train to Marbella, a resort town located on the Costa del Sol. My sister Jessica wanted to attend a design academy in the city come fall and we were hired to do some investigative work by my family. Since we were able to postpone our flight to Rio and now had extra time to kill in Spain, Fab and I decided that we would also try to make it Barcelona, a city I had always wanted to visit.
After securing our train tickets to Marbella and Barcelona, Fab and I wandered around Gran Via in central Madrid, stopping to admire the grandeur of the wide avenues and antiquated buildings. From there, we killed the rest of the day lingering in open air cafes, sipping hot coffee and cold beer and munching on plates olives. We wore our new clothes, felt fashionable, yet knew that below our handsome veneer we were still a couple of dirty backpackers hiding behind the facade of fresh cotton.
